AB Lung  cancer  is  the  third  most  commonly  diagnosed  cancer,  after  breast  and  prostate  cancers,  but  it  is  the  most  common  cause  of  cancer-related  death  (1).  Every  year,  1.5  million  patients  die  of  lung  cancer  worldwide  (1).  About  70%  of  patients  will  be  diagnosed  with  advanced  stages  that  are  not  amenable  to  curative  therapies.  Only  15%  of  all  patients  diagnosed  with  lung  cancer  are  alive  5  years  after  diagnosis.
