XII.E.001 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.001

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Monocyte showing an initial small pseudopod penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). (Transmission electron micrograph)

XII.E.002 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.002

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Monocyte showing an initial small pseudopod penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). Note endothelial cell junction (arrow) to the right of migration pore. (Transmission electron micrograph)

XII.E.003 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.003

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Monocyte showing an initial small pseudopod penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). Above the forward part of a lymphocyte has entered the sinus lumen. Note the profound deformation of the nucleus required to pass through the small pore in the endothelial cell. Segmented nuclei of granulocytes in egress do not require this degree of deformation. (See Part XII. D.) (Transmission electron micrograph)

XII.E.004 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.004

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Monocyte shown penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). (Transmission electron micrograph)

XII.E.005 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.005

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Monocyte shown penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). Note endothelial cell junction (arrow) to the right of emigrating cell. (Transmission electron micrograph)

XII.E.006 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.006

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Lymphocyte shown penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). Note profound deformation required of nucleus to pass through the narrow migration pore. Transmission electron micrograph.

XII.E.007 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.007

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Lymphocyte shown penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). Note profound deformation required of nucleus to pass through the small migration pore. Note endothelial cell junction (arrow) to the right of migration pore. Transmission electron micrograph.

XII.E.008 Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress

XII.E.008

Mononuclear Leukocyte Egress. Murine marrow. Leukocyte shown penetrating endothelium and entering sinus lumen (L). (Scanning electron micrograph)
