AB  - The  discovery  of  the  ruddy  globules  (red  cells)  is  attributed  to  Jan  Swammerdam  (1637-1680)  in  Amsterdam;  but,  it  was  Antonj  van  Leeuwenhoek  (1632-1723)  of  Delft,  who  as  a  result  of  his  ability  to  grind  lenses  with  greater  magnifying  power  (x  275),  made  a  more  detailed  description  of  red  cells,  delineating  their  gross  structure.
