Transplanted hematopoietic progenitors can reconstitute the full spectrum of hematopoietic cells in a recipient host, and can also confer immunologic antitumor activity. HSCT is therefore employed for both cellular replacement and for cancer immunotherapy. This chapter reviews the basic immunology of HSCT.
